The Philosopher Newel Post

The railing was commissioned by my favourite client. An artist himself, he gives me incredible latitude with every project I work on for him. The newel post is a stylized forearm terminating in a rather unique take of the traditional ball and claw. I was going for a kind of classical Greek statue look for the head. Looks to me like Plato or Socrates hence… the philosopher.
